Kool Tools: Korus wireless speakers

If you want premium wireless speakers, you want the Korus V600 and the Korus V400, which are designed to work with iDevices such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, as well as Macs and PCs.

What of Android devices? Currently the only way you can currently connect such a gadget is through a 3.5mm audio cable. A mini-USB baton that will let you connect Droid devices to them is in development, but no official release date has been set.

What's a baton you ask? Good question. With a Korus speaker, you plug a micro-USB, USB, Apple 30-pin, or Apple Lightning dongle into your phone, tablet or PC — Korus calls the dongles “batons” — and it immediately connects.

Korus wireless speaker systems offer an alternative to Bluetooth-enabled audio solutions and other wireless technologies. Due to its use of SKAA, based on a professional wireless audio standard called Pro Audio Wireless (PAW), they provide a stable and reliable wireless audio connection without pops, drops and lag. They also offer the flexibility to stream audio from a single device to one or as many as four speakers placed in one or more rooms.

Korus wireless speakers are also engineered with LiveStage, a proprietary acoustic platform that enables a wider, multi-dimensional sound platform. It projects the vocals up front and other instruments like guitars and drums behind, to create distance between music elements. The resulting audio experience feels immersive and expansive, as if you are listening to a live performance.

The V600s is the premier wireless speaker in the Korus lineup. It offers very good audio quality thanks to the aforementioned technology, a 80Hz-20kHz frequency range, and  side-firing tweeters. The smaller, lighter (about 4.5 pounds) V400s is perfect for smaller areas like a kitchen counter, table, or anywhere space is limited.

The V600 speaker bundle costs US$449. It comes with the speaker itself, a Lightning baton, a 30-pin baton, a USB baton, and two charge cables.
