The Enterprise Device Alliance has opened its third annual survey to learn from IT administrators about the deployment and management of smartphones and tablets in their organizations.
The survey asks about the projected growth in the number of devices, the impact on IT of managing mobile devices, the barriers to broad acceptance, and the challenges of managing these devices. IT administrators are encouraged to contribute to the survey, which can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/EDAfallmobilesurvey2013 . The survey will be online until Nov. 30.
"The rapid adoption of smartphones and tablets is challenging enterprises to deliver secure, mobile access to information while protecting customer data and ensuring the organizations' integrity and productivity," says T. Reid Lewis, president of the Enterprise Device Alliance. "With this annual survey, we want to hear the most urgent priorities and concerns from those dealing directly with the issue to allow us to analyze how the environment has changed over the last few years."
In a survey conducted last year by the EDA related to this topic, IT administrators asserted that the number one reason that limits organizations' willingness to support employees using a mobile device was "devices don't meet our security standards" (65%). Complete results of the surveys from 2011 and 2012 and other surveys are available in the Enterprise Device Alliance Resource Center (http://enterprisedevicealliance.org/resources).
The Alliance will present and discuss the survey results in a webinar scheduled for Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. Eastern. You can sign up for the webcast online at https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/9735/92691 .
